V/VI SPORTS

The V/VI Athletic Program is designed to be introductory in nature by placing an emphasis on sport-specific skill development. The V/VI Program provides students with an opportunity to experience a variety of teams and individual sports in an intramural and interscholastic setting.

According to our governing body, New York State Association of Independent School (NYSAIS), V&VI athletic programs are philosophically different than Middle School Sports (VII/VIII). "Please note that competition for students in class V-VI are meant to include intramural activities with limited contests against other schools. Extra class experience should grow out of our intramural program and offer a modified introduction to competition."

The sports offered for V/VI are as follows:
Fall: Volleyball, Soccer
Winter: Dance, Swimming, Basketball
Spring: Track and Field, Lacrosse, Softball

Practice and competitions occur on Mondays and Fridays. Practice is immediately after school and ends at 5:00pm; competitions are commonly held on those days but may occur on "off" days if needed. Practice is held within a Brearley building or Asphalt Green. Competitions are often held at Brearley, a local AAIS school or Asphalt Green.
