610 Construction

7/24/2023: Con Edison has informed us that they will be switching us back to permanent power starting on Tuesday, July 25. This work will run, per our permit from the Department of Buildings, from 6:00 am to 12:00 am. Con Ed says they will complete the work by 6:00 pm on Friday, July 28. 

7/21/2023: UPDATE: Due to excessive heat, Con Edison has postponed its work this weekend. We will send an advisory as soon as we know when it is rescheduled. Additionally the DOB has extended the variance for after-hours and weekend work.

7/14/2023: The Department of Buildings has granted Brearley an after-hours variance for renovation work inside the 610 East 83rd Street building from July 17-July 24. Additionally, we will again be using a temporary generator while Con Edison switches over our permanent power supply from July 21-July 24. 

7/6/2023: The installation of our new AC unit via crane has been postponed to Tuesday, July 11, 2023. East 83rd Street will remain open and accessible tomorrow, July 7, 2023. On Tuesday, the south parking lane and south sidewalk of East 83rd Street between East End Avenue and a portion of the East River Promenade will be closed.

6/30/2023: On Friday, July 7, workers will be installing equipment to support a new AC unit for our school on the top of 610 East 83rd Street using a 50-ton crane. Per our permit from the city, the south parking lane and south sidewalk of 83rd Street between East End Avenue and a portion of the East River Promenade will be closed for the day.

6/15/2023: Con Edison has informed us that they will be switching us over to temporary generator power starting on Wednesday, June 21 rather than Friday June 23. This work will run, per our permit from the Department of Buildings, from 6:00 am to 12:00 am. Con Ed says they will complete the work by 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 25.

6/6/2023: We have received after-hours variances from the Department of Buildings to do construction during the evening of June 12 and June 14. 

5/24/2023: We have received after-hours variances from the Department of Buildings to do construction on Saturdays starting May 27 through August 19 as well as during the afternoon and evenings of May 30, May 31 and June 1. 

5/4/2023: We have received after-hours variances from the Department of Buildings to do construction during the afternoon and evenings from May 8-19. 

4/14/2023: We have received after-hours variances to do construction on Saturday, April 22 and on Saturday, May 6.

3/15/2023: There will be construction done at Brearley the weeks of March 20 and March 27. Additionally, the New York City Department of Buildings has approved our application to do construction in our building on Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7. 

2/9/2023: The New York City Department of Buildings has approved our application to do construction on our building on Saturdays beginning on February 18 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This work will primarily occur on the exterior of the building as we replace our windows with more energy efficient ones. Additionally, we will be doing construction on Monday, February 20, during the President’s Day holiday.

8/4/2022: Per the Department of Buildings, Brearley has been issued a permit to do work inside the 610 East 83rd Street building on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Additionally, the DOB has extended the working hours for the week of August 8-12 until 11:00 pm. There will be no outside work done on the weekend and after hours during the week.
