Squash Team Competes at US Squash Nationals

The Squash Team traveled to Pennsylvania to compete at the US Squash National Championships.  The team made it to the Semifinals with wins over The Latin School of Chicago 5-2  and HLM 4-3.  The team lost their last two matches against Lardin School (Buffalo NY) and The Hopkins School (Connecticut).  Congratulations to the Squash Team for their terrific play at the Tournament !
  • Captain's Pick of the Week

Dance: Our Captain’s Picks of the Week are Syona (XI) and Hanna (X)!  While having a few people out sick this week there was a large group rehearsal in which we were missing two out of three people in a part of a dance. Syona and Hanna stepped up and filled those parts, which they were not required to know, for the entirety of the rehearsal! We appreciate their willingness to practice extra on the side and to help out when the team is in need!

JV Basketball: JV Basketball’s CPOW is Natasha! Natasha was injured for the first half of the season, and now that she is back, is working very hard! She learns our plays quickly and scored within a minute of our most recent game! She is super positive in practice and works well with everyone on the team.

Varsity Basketball: Our CPOW is Grace Bolner (X)! Grace is consistently very hard-working, and her kindness towards her teammates and competitors matches her dedication. She makes important plays on both offense and defense, often grabbing rebounds and making important shots. Grace is incredibly supportive of her teammates, and she always congratulates them after making a shot, playing good defense, or improving a skill. She also worked so well with the Lower Schoolers at our clinic on Saturday, which was so cute and fun to watch! She is such an important part of the team on and off the court and we are so happy to have her!

Swimming: This week's CPOW is Diana Bates! Diana is an integral member of our team in all our meets, reliably winning two of the toughest events, the 200 IM and 500 free, as well as anchoring two relays. We will always be in awe of her speed, and her eagerness to help the team motivates us all. Almost as importantly, she excelled in our water polo match this week. She gained possession of the ball in nearly every point, passed to her teammates flawlessly, and scored countless goals, leading us to a 14-3 victory over Chapin. We are so grateful to have her on our team!!

Squash: Squash’s CPOW for the week is Christina Flynn! She has been working so hard the past couple of weeks. We are so proud of her grit and determination against the tough competition we have faced in our past few matches. We can’t wait to see her play at nationals! Keep squashing, Christina!

  • Winter Carnival 2018!

Winter Carnival 2018 kicked off on Thursday January 18th with both Middle School Swim Team and the B Team Basketball taking on Nightingale.  The B team defeated the Nighthawks 23-22. The  Middle School Swim team did a fantastic job and displayed all they have been working on in practice.

Friday's festivities against Nightingale were kicked off by the 5/6 Basketball Teams, followed by the A Basketball Team.  While they played with determination and grit, the A Team lost 5-25.  At Asphalt Green Brearley's Varsity Swim Team took to the pool and the team swam hard but lost 39-54.  Varsity Basketball closed out the evening with dominate play winning 48-19.

    Congrats to all !

  • First Captains' Picks of the Week for 2018!

    JV Basketball
Our CPOW is Alexa Rosenzweig! Alexa is an incredible player who is always a positive influence on the rest of the team. After she got injured she bounced back and she played really well in the game on friday. She always works hard in practice and she is willing to play different positions that need to be filled.

    Varsity Basketball
Our CPOW is Alexandra Baird, XI! Alexandra is one of the team’s top scorers and rebounders. She is also incredibly hard-working in practice, always paying close attention to learn a new skill or technique. She often plays for the entire game, and even at the end when she is tired, she continues to push herself. This determination, combined with her positive attitude and sense of humor, make her an invaluable contributor to the team both on and off the court. Keep it up, Al!!!

    Dance
Our captains pick of the week is Maya, class IX! Maya is always enthusiastic and puts effort into all of her dancing - and it pays off. Choreographers love working with her as she is both a wonderful understudy and dancer. Her amazing technique and all-around fun and energetic presence inspires and brings joy to all of us!

    Squash
Squash's Pick of the Week is Aditi Naraynan! Since her freshman year, Aditi has grown from just shy of making the team to becoming a starting player. She has worked on her skills in both the on and off season and is always ready to incorporate her coaches' and peers' advice - immensely improving as a result. Aditi's excellent technique and positive attitude has made her both a formidable player and wonderful teammate. Keep up the good work, Aditi!

    Swimming
This week's CPOW is Paley Arnone! Paley has worked consistently throughout the season to improve her butterfly, the most grueling stroke. She always gives one hundred percent in practice, even when she's not feeling her best. Her hard work paid off in both our meets, in which she swam some of the toughest events with a positive attitude and great determination. Keep up the awesome work!!
    Love, Mimi and Caroline
