New Faculty Q&A—Meet Ms. Core

Name: Tabitha Core
Department/Job title: Class IV Room Teacher
Previous job(s): Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic, 4th-grade ICT teacher at Girls Prep Bronx Elementary
Something that makes Brearley different from other places you've worked: the creativity of the entire faculty and staff and an enthusiasm that spreads like wildfire through the students
Favorite food (sweet, savory, etc.): chocolate chip cookies and macaroni and cheese
Coffee or tea (or neither): coffee!
Favorite Music/Band: Taylor Swift and Hamilton
Favorite thing about working in New York: access to Broadway shows, good public transportation, and easily hearing ten different languages in a single day
Hobbies: playing games (Catchphrase and Scattergories are two favorites), theater (watching, although I wish I had the talent to perform), animals (all), karaoke (poorly), and hiking (and generally being outdoors)
Fun fact(s) about you: I had a dog follow me around my town in the Dominican Republic—"Mary Had a Little Lamb"-style. After being taken to a different town after sleeping outside my house for months, she spent two weeks chewing through a chain link leash and ran a mile back to my house to find me. She now lives with me on the Upper East Side.
