The Clubhouse is an enrichment program offered by the Brearley and Chapin Schools in a collaborative after-school setting to girls in Kindergarten through Class V. Under the supervision of qualified Clubhouse personnel and teachers, students are given the opportunity to broaden their imaginations, increase their physical activity and develop a deeper appreciation for the arts through the diverse range of activities offered each trimester.
LOWER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Activities are an integral part of the educational experience, providing opportunities for students to explore new areas, develop their talents and become acquainted with girls in classes other than their own. Brearley offers girls in the Lower School three optional after-school programs. The Clubhouse, in collaboration with the Chapin School, offers a variety of activities such as in-line skating and creative cooking and baking. On Fridays, girls may stay for a program of play and crafts or organized sports. An Extended Day program that follows these activities Monday through Friday ends at 5:45 p.m. and includes reading stories, quiet time and indoor/outdoor play.
FRIDAY SPORTS PROGRAMS
The Friday Sports program for students in I-IV offers a gymnastics and soccer program between 2:15 and 3:00 p.m. The gymnastics program is for girls of all abilities. Interest in learning more about gymnastics is the only requirement. The soccer program is offered to students in Classes II-IV, and they will learn the basic skills of soccer and play small sided games. Both clases will be taught by members of the Physical Education Department.
