Students Meet Author at China Institute
Students in the History of China and Japan, taught by Gail Marcus, had a chance to spend an evening at the China Institute in New York with Jung Chang. Among other texts, Ms. Marcus uses Ms. Chang’s international bestseller Wild Swans, which explores Ms. Chang’s family history through three generations of women, to discuss Chinese history through the 20th century in her course. The students were thrilled to meet the author and hear about her new book which tells the story of the three Soong sisters and their influence on the course of history in 20th-century China.
It was a fascinating discussion, and the students said it was inspiring to continue to hear the stories of women who shaped Chinese history.
