Lower School
The aim of the Lower School is to give each girl a firm grounding in beginning subjects and the confidence to respond enthusiastically and happily to new experiences and new ideas. In a relaxed atmosphere that emphasizes cooperation, not competition, students are helped to form good work habits and encouraged to be adventurous, responsible and kind. While the curriculum is carefully planned and objectives are clearly defined, classroom procedure is sufficiently flexible to allow for attention to variations in developmental levels and for small group instruction. Formality is part of the Lower School program only as it tends to give a sense of security to the children and direction to class activities.
